He was a member of the National Academy of Science's Industry Committee for the Expanded Enrichment of Cereal Grain Products. In 1984, he created Vitality Products Corporation and served as president until his retirement in 2001. Gage was a trustee of Brookdale Community College, an instructor at the Dale Carnegie Course in Public Speaking and Human Relations, a Boy Scout leader and scout master in Lincroft. He was an avid canoeist, camper and scuba diver.
He is survived by his second wife, Kathryn, of Lakewood, and his three children, William Gage, of Tinton Falls, Karin Krauszer, of Edison, Robert Gage, of Barrington, IL, and seven grandchildren.
